Christmas is over and gone
Only 359 shopping days left for that special gift
It will be New Years before long.
Soon the ball with drop again for that New Year lift
And then comes the big tax test
As the IRS opens their collection bin.
Until they squeeze us dry they will not rest
And the cycle repeats over and over again.

Only a few more days till Christmas. The Christmas spirit has been tarnished some this year due to the economy and here's hoping that Obama and his team can indeed turn the country around. When Bush was elected in 2004 the watch word was gravitas. It looks like the watch word for this administration will be pragmatic. Whatever the watch word something needs to be done and I am willing to give Obama every opportunity and support him all I can to make it happen. Americans have weathered much worse storms and come out stronger and more determined. Lord willing we will do it again.

December 5, 2008, was my great granddaughter's first birthday. When one becomes a man or woman (the law says that happens at age 18) the thought of being a great grandparent is not even considered. Graduations from school, the wedding day (or days if there more than one marriage) the birth of children and intermixed is everyday life. Becoming a grandparent for the first time (I told my daughter that if I knew grand kids would be this much fun I would have skipped having kids) is quite a realization. Then becoming a great grandparent is sobering due to the fact that when I was a kid grandparents were not that common. I guess becoming a great great grandparent as my parents have become is really sobering. How often does that happen and especially when the great great grandparents are healthy and able to enjoy their great great grandchild? The wonders of life.

Wednesday in December
Another Wednesday is coming down in Anna, TX. We are in the process of decorating for Christmas...we have the tree up and the front porch decorated. The next thing is setting up the Christmas Angel and the Christmas village. Sure is nice having my wife able to do things this Christmas as opposed to last year when she had just completed knee surgery. Her love of Christmas brightens our home and make every day that much more enjoyable.
Our patio is almost finished and we are looking forward to enjoyable times with family as well as just sitting and enjoying the day. The big grill Aaron got his mother for Mother's Day last year can now be put to good use. And away we goooooooooo

Thanksgiving
Today we gather to give thanks for the blessing from God, this great country, family, friends and the everyday joys of life. People talk about the first Thanksgiving and the various aspects of what happened. We could argue all day about what happned back then and why, but let us take the spirit of Thanksgiving and run with it....give thanks for what we have and do our best everyday for God, family and country.

To Begin
These are the words, thoughts, observations & voyages in the life of a man, husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. The twists and turns of life is what makes life life. I thank God everyday for my wife, kids, grandkids, great granddaughter & wonderful parents. Life is good & getting better.
